Environmental Commitment

As a part of our environmental commitment Penske Truck Leasing, Penske Logistics and Penske Truck Rental proudly participate and support the Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Transport partnership as affiliate and carrier partners.

Penske Logistics and Penske Truck Rental hold the distinction of earning EPA’s highest Performance Score rating of 1.25. Only SmartWay Partners with scores of 1.25 are awarded the unique honor of displaying the SmartWay Transport Partner logo – EPA's symbol for superior fuel efficiency and environmental performance.

SmartWay is a voluntary partnership with the freight industry and the EPA that establishes incentives for fuel efficiency improvements and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

By 2012, this initiative aims to reduce up to 33 to 66 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and up to 200,000 tons of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions per year. At the same time, the initiative will result in fuel savings of up to 150 million barrels of oil annually.
